Fallen Heroes Project

I just clicked over to the website of Fallen Heroes Project and felt the tears start to roll down my face. There are currently 29 pages of fallen heroes with their hand drawn portraits featured.

Heartbreaking. Sad. Overwhelming.

I slowly went through all of the pages. As I looked at each portrait, it is hard to do so without imagining what his or her story must be. Who did they leave behind? Were they married? Did they have children?

The next phase of the site will answer all of those questions as a biography of every fallen hero will be placed beside the portrait.

Free Portraits for Families

The organization is in place to provide a free portrait to the family of the fallen hero. They request the family’s favorite photo and then work to capture the hero’s personality through the work of art. From my time spent in the gallery, I can say he does an amazing job at that.

As you will see, there have currently been 2,000 portraits produced. But we have lost over 5,000 in the War on Terror. The organization wants to ensure that every fallen hero’s family has the opportunity to have a portrait of their hero drawn.

I know we can all help to spread the word about this great organization that is giving back to our Gold Star families.

The website is here:

Please share this amazing resource so families can have this keepsake and we can all remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us.
